Gosh. Hello. A whole blog to fill! Starting a new blog is as exciting as opening the cover on a new, crisp, white-paged notebook. All those blank pages simply waiting to be filled. But the big question is, what to write? Where to start? Do I want to blog about writing? But is that really of interest to anyone? And aren’t there enough blogs about writing?
I’ve dabbled in a couple of blogs before, about the ups, downs and perambulating paths of living and raising a family in France. But now I’m attempting at long last, once and for all to launch a writing career, I’d like to broaden that. But how? I’m not particularly outspoken nor up to speed on world issues. Can I make a difference to anyone? Is what I’m going to write about relevant to anyone?
I’ve been mulling this over since my new website began to take shape on the test server. Not getting very far, I did what fashion designers do – look to my archives. I dug out an early pitch letter for Just Jenna. As I read it, a perfectly polished little nugget popped into my head: inspiring women to follow their own path. It perfectly encapsulated why I wrote Just Jenna originally and what I want to do.
So off we go. Although with zero track record, I’ll stick to a more modest guide of encouraging women to follow their own path. So, dear reader, if indeed you are still reading, I hope you’ll come with me and see where this goes. For someone who likes to know precisely the direction in which she’s headed, it feels strange but exciting to be going with the flow.
